The U-46 school district is trying to shut down all gifted and advanced reading classes in it's middle schools for white and minority students this will greatly affect students and will cost the jobs of many teachers. To supplement this the board will make all teachers in all subjects teach reading in their subject instead of what they're supposed to be teaching.It will be discussed by the U-46 board of education this upcoming Monday. I know that its not the place of the Obama administration to deal with this type of thing but an official statement would be a really big help in the fight to maintain our reading program.
