The fact is that we have the technological solutions to protect our schools.
-Install security cameras in every school; outside, every door, every hallway.
- Install an emergency response button on phones in every classroom, administration room, and even janitor's rooms
-When the emergency response button is pushed;
1) the school immediately goes into lockdown.
2) a 911 call is dispatched, and speaker phone mode is enabled to allow the dispatcher to hear what's going on.
3) the 911 dispatcher immediately gets access to all cameras
The benefits to this approach would be 911 dispatchers could analyze the threat resulting in faster police/first responder dispatch times, better safety for our children and first responders, as well as locating suspects.
