protect our Senior Citizens from financial abuse by enacting a Federal law to require Banks to report suspected abuse.

Created by T.S. on February 18, 2013

Senior Citizens hold the vast majority of wealth. Many are very vulnerable. 1 in 10 experiences abuse every year. $3 billion was taken from seniors in 2012. 78% of elder financial abuse cases are perpetuated by relatives. 1 of the 1st people to recognize the abuse is often a bank teller. There are only a few states with programs that require banks to contact local social services. There are a couple avenues built into the BSA, but none is robust enough really to protect our senior citizens. The results of elder abuse can be devastating. We the people demand a Federal law that gives safe harbor to banks and requires that they report elder abuse to law enforcement and social services. We the people demand that our national treasures, Senior Citizens, be protected.
