Secret trade agreement negotiations without input/review by Congress are dangerous to our sovereignty and our freedoms. The Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement,TPP, is being negotiated secretly with a goal of allowing only a “Yes” or “No” vote by Congress without discussion or amendments. Foreign corporations could bypass our laws on consumer protection and environment. Banning risky financial products would be prohibited. Drug companies could increase prices and limit access to generics. Leaked sections indicate that it would effect Internet services and civil liberties; and that once signed, the US cannot get out of any part unless all other partnering countries agree. Under the Constitution, Congress has power to regulate trade. It must have the right to discuss/amend agreements.
