Citizen Action to support MT. BALDY COMMUNITY in consideration of a San Gabriel Mountains national monument.
The Antiquities Act of 1906 grants the President authority to designate national monuments in order to protect “objects of historic or scientific interest.”
While there are well-detailed "benefits" of national monuments, there are significant drawback for the Mt. Baldy Community and its visitors in creation of a San Gabriel national monument - including property seizures, mismanagement of natural resources, and destruction of small business.
A national monument designation is an exclusive federal jurisdiction that would rob the mountain community its rights. Support local community and preserve our environment.
