Since the Great Recession workers were illegally reclassified by employers as exempt from overtime pay.
A weak job market, and intimidation from employers forced workers to accept losing their right to overtime pay or suffer even tougher times. Without the protection of overtime pay work weeks were made longer. Longer work weeks have affected workers health and family lives, just what overtime pay was to protect.
We ask the Whitehouse to-
Actively enforce FLSA rules regarding overtime pay esp. in industries where abuse is common. And protect those who report violations.
Bar companies who violate labor laws from doing business with the federal government.
Ask Congress to increase the statute of limitations of labor laws so workers can recover overtime pay lost during the recession.
