Protect the rights of American citizens to produce their own foods

Created by A.N. on May 05, 2014

Changes have taken place in the Michigan Right to Farm Act and have taken place elsewhere. They are wrong! They basically ban urban farming and self-sufficiency. There are a lot of families who depend on growing their own food. As a child I depended on home grown food. My parents depended on home grown food. My family came to Michigan in the 1800s and have been independent farmers and gardeners ever since. The choice between hunger and self-sufficiency should not be a choice made by big business and mega farms. Raising your own food was considered patriotic at one point. What happened to "victory gardens"? Support our right to provide for ourselves and protect encourage urban gardening. These changes basically kill the urban garden movement in Detroit, which helps teach kids healthy living
