The slaughter of the Roosevelt Elk and Kaibab Mule Deer on Santa Rosa Island is scheduled to begin now by the National Park Service. While we agree that it is time the commercial hunting of these animals should end now, these animals have call this home for 100 years. Their elimination just because they did not evolve there makes no sense. While cases can happen that prevention of over crowding are necessary, these herds have lived there successfully longer than many of us have called this continent our home.
Stop the killing of these beautiful animals and let them live in peace.
