protect the second amendment and the people's right to self defense.

The upcoming "assault weapons" ban proposed by senator Feinstein is an attempt to violate the second amendment. "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." This amendment is not talking about hunting rifles or muskets, it is talking about keeping the people armed, and able to defend themselves. Since Warren V. District of Columbia ruled that police do not even have a duty to protect the people, that puts defense in the peoples hands. This "assault weapons" ban is proposing to remove firearms that are used far more often in a defensive role than in any form of crime, since criminals usually obtain firearms illegally, this only disarms law abiding citizens, leaving them defenseless.
