The Federal Trade Commission has said that 1 in 5 seniors will be victims of identity theft, costing each an average of $5K and months of work trying to reclaim their identity.
Yet Medicare still requires senior's Social Security numbers to be printed on their Medicare cards, putting millions at risk.
Seniors are losing billions of dollars each year, and taking SSN's off of Medicare cards is a simple way to make it harder for thieves to take advantage of our seniors.
Several pieces of bipartisan legislation have been introduced over the past few years to address this, but none have moved. President Obama, please work with Congress to get this common sense legislation passed and protect seniors from identity theft.
