Social Security is critical to many, many seniors for survival after retirement. Over 50% of seniors have only Social Security to live on.
Recently there has been talk about chained CPI, which would reduce Social Security payments. While this would slightly decrease the deficit, it would be on the backs of the middle class workers, and it will be very harmful to them.
Instead, let's remove the payroll tax earnings cap. This would raise taxes on the rich (those earning over $113,700), and protect Social Security for the elderly, disabled, and orphans. According to the Congressional Budget, this would SOLVE the financial crisis facing Social Security!
Please sign this petition to level the tax burden on both the rich and the poor by removing the cap on earnings for Social Security.
