Protect the Social Security Trust Fund from General Fund Spending

Created by T.W. on November 24, 2012

In the past, Congress has a terrible record on the issues of the Social Security Trust Fund and it's solvency. Constantly we hear the heated debates amongst conservatives and liberals on when it will go bankrupt and how we must overhaul it to preserve it for X number of years.

In 2013 recipients can only receive their benefits by direct deposit or on the Comerica debit card. The government now has the Comerica account, why not put those funds into an interest bearing savings account and only pay SS recipients? Don't allow the government to invest it in bonds, bills, etc. so they can then lend it back to themselves for other budgets like defense or foreign aide.

I am asking the American people to take control of this ourselves and preserve it for ourselves and future generations.
