Piracy in Somali waters does not happen because the people are evil or they want to hurt people, it is actually caused by big corporations. Somalian waters are currently undefended and have been so for many years, because of this shipping companies dump their waste into the water there. The Somali people rely on fishing as their source of food and income, so when the dumping started it killed off the fish.To save their homes and villages the Somali people joined local pirates in an attempt to stop the dumping. Now companies are hiring private security companies to guard their ships which makes the pirates leave. The dumping of waste has not stopped, which is why we need our government to send our navy to protect Somalian waters from the illegal dumping of waste into the ocean killing life.
