Thanksgiving Day is becoming trivialized by retailers opening on this day. Retailers opening on Thanksgiving Day not only tarnishes what has always been one of our country's most cherished holidays, but also burdens retail employees unnecessarily. Can't we wait one more day--protect Thanksgiving!
Please enact legislation which imposes one of the following on retailers for opening on Thanksgiving Day OR before 8AM on the Friday after:
(1) penalizes retailers with a substantial fine--enough to deter opening doors on this day
OR
(2) raises minimum wages to 7x minimum wage on Thanksgiving Day and until 8am the day after to deter stores from opening
Protect Thanksgiving!
