The House Republicans are threatening to seriously damage the United States economy by refusing to raise the debt ceiling unless deep cuts are made to Social Security, Medicare and other programs that help the middle class and the poor. Your reelection is a clear mandate to protect these programs first and foremost and to continue our economic recovery.
If they try to hold the United States hostage and damage our economic recovery, please invoke Section 4 of the 14th Amendment and raise the debt ceiling.
