Protect Wisconsin's Natural Resources- Stop the sand mines from depleting our aquifers and devastating our beloved land.

Here in Wisconsin, we are priviledged to enjoy some of the largest fresh water reserves in the entire world. In fact we are the envy of the world and if we are to sustain these supplies, we must not throw them away. And that is exactly  what we are doing by granting permits to the sand mines for the deep wells they need to wash the sand. Our aquifers are being challenged and wetlands drying up, Waukesha is begging for water, yet the DNR  continues to negligently give permits to an industry that does not have the better interests of the people of Wisconsin in mind. Recently when the city of Tomah Wisconsin decided not to drill wells for the sand mining operation west of Tomah on highway 21 near Tunnel City, the mining company sought and received permits from the DNR to drill 4 deep wells.
