Last year, 26,000 instances of unwanted sexual conduct were reported, while only 1 in 10 sexual assaults reported made it to trial. Many of these reports are swept under the rug because the commanding officers (many times the actual sexual offender) refuse to report the crime.
We must put and end to this horrible epidemic of rape and assault within the military. This petition supports the Military Justice Improvement Act, which, if passed, would create serious accountability and would protect future service members from suffering retribution from their commanding officers.
