There are many health issues women face that birth control lowers the risk and/or prevent that have nothing to do with the prevention of a pregnancy: ovarian cysts, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, uterine and endometrial cancers, PMS, pre-menopausal symptoms (night sweats, hot flashes, decreased libido), irregular periods, anemia associated with heavy menstrual bleeding,amenorrhea, pelvic inflammatory disease and debilitating menstrual cramps.There are health issues women face that a pregnancy may place their health or that of an unborn child at risk: diseased hearts, gestational diabetes, gestational hypertension, post postpartum depression, ectopic pregnancies and genetic defects that may be passed to the child.
