Protect Women's Topfreedom under the Equal Rights Amendment of 1972. Don't shame women because of their bare nipples.

Created by M.W. on May 10, 2013

As recent as the beginning of the 20th Century, the American public considered it to be indecent for men to expose their bare chests on public beaches. Women's bare nipples are still considered to be indecent because of entrenched social mores that are heavily rooted in traditional Christian beliefs. Today, many Biblical sins (such as sodomy, coveting, adultery, dishonoring parents) are not crimes, though they may be heavily frowned upon. Many of these sins--legal or illegal--actually harm people, physically or emotionally. Nudity does not, or should not. This petition focuses only on women's nipples, which are nearly identical to men's and are not strictly sexual. Women's nipples feed children. It is time to put our Puritanical mores aside on this issue and live in the now.
