Protect your personal data. Regulate Equifax, The Work Number and similar services.

Created by S.Z. on June 10, 2014

Currently Equifax and its subsidiary, The Work Number, are the central locations for employers to verify employee data. Data is shared by participating companies and government organizations regarding employment history, date of hire, date of departure and reasons for departure.

Employees are not given the choice as to whether or not their data is shared with Equifax, they have no method to have their data removed from this private database, and no privacy.

Not only employment data, but other sensitive data, such as salary history, use of medical services, weekly pay stubs and even sick days are part of the data gathered, shared and sold, and consumers need to have a law passed prohibiting collection and sharing of this data.

Please sign to pass a law to ban this type of abuse.
