It is the duty of the United States Government to protect the citizens of this great nation. In times were active shooters scenarios are becoming more and more probable, there needs to be actions taken in order to ensure the safety of innocent lives. Protecting the youth of America cannot be more important. There has yet to be any steps taken to prevent heinous acts from occurring in our schools. There have been too many of these atrocities; 1999 Columbine High School massacre, 2007 Virginia Tech massacre, and 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre. The U.S. Government needs to take immediate action. School should be a safe haven for kids and young adults not a place where potential devastation can occur.
