We the people ask the federal government to Call on Congress to act on an issue:

Protecting Civil Servants from Hate Crimes

Created by R.K. on July 09, 2016

Recent tensions between law enforcement and members of the community they protect have escalated to the point where violence is now commonplace. The citizenry has the right to protest, however the police must be afforded latitude to maintain order. We live in a society of ordered liberty. Too much order creates despotism. Too much liberty creates anarchy. Our Constitition cannot allow deliberate targeting of minority citizens for arrest, detention, or interrogation. It similarly cannot allow for civil servants to fear for their lives in discharging their duties to maintain peace in this country.

Accordingly, We the People call on our government to amend the Shepard Act such that the deliberate targeting of a law enforcement officer is made a hate crime.
