Initiate action to remove Social Security/Medicare from the General Budget. Allow Social Security to invest the money it receives and use the proceeds to help make benefit payments like commercial pension plans do. Lastly, the Government should be made to pay back the nearly trillion dollars it has borrowed from Social Security in the past.
Social Security is a benefit the people pay into their entire working life . We are not given a choice the monies are taken regardless and the contract is that we will receive benefits when we qualify. It is not a Political/Budgetary football or something to be abolished at the whim of Politicians. These actions would reduce the strain on the Budget and make Social Security independent while ensuring its existence for future generations.
