Protection for all women in the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women's Act, or VAWA.

The Violence Against Women Act ,or VAWA, is up for reauthorization in 2012. It is important that we include all women in this Act. This includes Native American women, undocumented women and women in same sex relationships. The number of reported domestic violence incidents has increased as much as 51% and the number of individuals killed by a partner has decreased by 34%.
Specifically concerning Native American women we ask that you support the Issa-Cole compromise on tribal provisions (H.R. 6625) and include that language in VAWA so that a final bill can move forward to protect all victims.
We believe that all women are of equal importance, regardless of ethnicity or sexual orientation, and deserving of the same protections.
