I am concerned with the amount of videos and news reports that I have seen about dogs being shot by police. The authorities must find humane ways to deter dogs. Dog owners need to be more responsible.
In the presence of children and owners, police shoot a dog whether it is a threat or not. Instead, police can use pepper spray or use devices that emit a high frequency to frighten the dog.
Dog owners need to be proactive in responsible dog ownership. When an officer is present, the dog should be in a kennel or on a leash.
People need to be educated on being responsible dog owners. The feeling of oppression and fear will be eliminated if police cease shooting dogs. Mandates need to be created to protect canines.
