All too often in America we hear of school cafeteria employees termination for allowing a child to have a meal when the child does not have the required $1.70 or more to pay. We feed prisoners 3 meals a day. Prisoners can receive an "allowance" to purchase additional items. However, children are refused lunch or given bread, cheese, and an apple in a best case scenario. In most cases the school cafeteria employees are instructed to throw the hot plate away versus allowing the child to eat the meal. Should an employee happen to give the child said meal without payment their livelihood is on the line, in many cases termination. This is a growing trend within the school system. Recently Dalene Bowden lost her job for giving a child the lunch valued at $1.70. This must stop.
