To provide Americans with equal ability to own land in foreign countries as the countries buying up America.

To provide equal opportunity to own land in the same countries that are buying up America. As it stands you as an American cannot own land in countries like the Philippines, Bulgaria and Thailand to name a few. U.S. laws allows foreign spouses to become U.S. citizens then purchase and own land. This is not the case in many other countries around the world. U.S. laws should protect Americans by demanding an equal ability to purchase and own land in foreign countries.
In short, the laws should match, if there is no way for an American to buy and own land in their name then, citizens from that country should not be able to buy own land in the U.S.
