Bernie Sanders is a U. S. Senator and leading candidate in the U.S. Presidential election of 2016. A recent shooting and potential assassination attempt at Sanders campaign headquarters in Las Vegas as well as past disturbances at campaign events have shown Mr. Sanders vulnerability to potentially violent confrontations with disturbed people. In 2007, at a similar stage in that presidential campaign, President Bush gave President Obama Secret Service protection for exactly this reason. Mr. Obama had not experienced such disturbances. Mr. Sanders has consistently attracted 20,000 in similar fashion as Mr. Obama. This situation must not be allowed to continue a moment longer. Bernie Sanders must have immediate Secret Service protection, just as other lesser ranking presidential candidate.
