Senator Sanders draws record crowds in the tens of thousands. According the latest CBS poll, he is ahead of Hillary Clinton in the key primary States of Iowa and New Hampshire. President Obama was granted special Secret Service protection because he was an historic candidate nearly 18 months prior to his nomination. Sanders would be the first democratic socialists to win a primary election in the U.S. The large crowds and the anti-establishment nature of his speeches leave him particularly vulnerable to violent attacks. He has no professional security to guarantee his safety, compared to Hillary’s Secret Service and Trump's private security. His vulnerability was demonstrated when he was prevented from delivering a speech when a Black Lives Matter supporter grabbed his microphone.
