Recently Cyprus government was forced to seize bank deposits in the form of tax to help bail the country out of their financial troubles. This can be done in the US through the use of eminent domain since your money is considered property and the government can seize your property for the greater good through eminent domain. The FDIC does not insure this because it is not a loss. This petition seeks to guarantee that this will never happen.
