Los Angeles, Las Vegas travel corridor is one of the most traveled corridors in the United States for both air and auto. For years, heavy traffic on Interstate 15 between Las Vegas and Los Angeles has created huge traffic tie ups and slow commute times resulting in wasted time, inefficient energy use and dangerous traffic conditions. Rail travel had been available to travelers until 1996 when Amtrak discontinued the Desert Wind. The Desert Wind was plagued by being not able to meet its schedule due to problems associated with running on the same track as Union Pacific freight trains and having to wait on sidings until the track cleared.
What the traveling public requires is a daily train that will reach its destination in 4 hours or less by improving the tracks and right of way.
