Veterans and military families are going hungry and need assistance because they have “too much income” to qualify for Assistance. Enact a special dispensation for our veterans and their widowed spouses that apply for Assistance (food stamp & other). It is a simple process based on need. When they apply for Assistance, their income is reduced by $5,200 ($100 /wk) and this reduced income level is used to determine qualification and benefit amount.
We must help those who fought to protect our freedoms but go to bed hungry at night because the choice is a roof or food. A dispensation of $100/wk is not too much to ask, so they don’t have to make a choice between food, shelter, medicine, or other basic human needs.
