Provide equal treatment to those who choose not to have children as they do to those who do have children.

The Obama administration should extend FMLA provisions for time off for care of a newborn or adopted child to those who choose to undergo voluntary, permanent sterilization, which is fully covered under the Affordable Care Act. The average American has two children, thereby earning 2 - 12 week periods of FMLA time off, whereas those who choose not to have children get no equivalent time off under FMLA. Persons who undergo voluntary, permanent sterilization prior to having children should be allowed to take 2 - 12 week sabbatical periods, using unpaid leave or sick time, as available, during the course of their career. This would improve the productivity and morale of those who choose not to have children and end the unfair, discriminatory treatment of said persons.
