provide federal funds to pay for the purchase and installation of reinforced doors and bulletproof glass in schools.

Representatives of some organizations have been calling for arming teachers in the wake of the school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary. We reject the notion that more guns in school is the solution to events such as Sandy Hook. Rather, we believe that installing classroom doors that cannot be broken through when closed and locked, and bulletproof glass in the windows of all first floor rooms in school buildings would be a more effective and safer way to protect the students and adults in those buildings.
