Attending colleges should be free to all students in the United States because the cost is extremely high, student loans are a huge burden, and there is not enough financial support. Usually the average cost for attending a college is $22,203 a year. That’s a lot of money, and does not include the cost of buying books and other supplies you may need. On average, students that graduate from college are about $29,400 in debt. Today there are 40 million Americans that are in student debt. All colleges in the United States should be free because many people can’t afford to go. Those who attend end up with thousands of dollars of debt and there are not enough scholarships to help all students with the high cost. If attending college was free, many people who do graduate won’t be in debt.
