With the upcoming election, there's plenty of rhetoric about job creation. Unfortunately, there aren't many concrete ideas for achieving it. Let's propose one:
Most of us agree that some degree of federal regulation is essential to protect us as workers, consumers, and inhabitants of Planet Earth. Unfortunately, the regulatory landscape can be extremely difficult to navigate in fast-paced, highly innovative areas such as med devices, drug development, and biotech. This poses great hardship to startups and small businesses, which often do not have the resources to comply.
If regulatory agencies cannot make clear regulations that are easy to comply with, then the government should provide free regulatory consultants to small businesses. Government should foster innovation, not impede it!
