After the recent news of school lunches being thrown away at a Utah school due to the children's parents not being able to afford it, I believe it is high time the federal government stepped in. The government should either require the states to fully fund elementary school lunches while adhering to federal standards for healthy food, or the government should fund the lunches itself. Children should not be punished if their parents cannot afford school lunch or are irresponsible. These children are the future of our country, we shouldn't treat them as pawns due to political ideology.
