Provide funding for Hydrocephalus research and awareness. We need a cure!

Created by D.B. on November 14, 2012

Hydrocephalus (hī′drō-sef′ă-lŭs) is an abnormal accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) within cavities of the brain called ventricles.

One to two of every 1,000 babies are born with hydrocephalus, making it as common as Down’s syndrome and more common than spina bifida or brain tumors.

Hydrocephalus can affect anyone, at any age... not just infants. The only "cures", a shunt inserted into the brain to drain fluid, or a process called an Endoscopic Third Ventriculostomy (ETV), are not cures at all. They are simply a temporary fix, and often require numerous revisions, costing hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Please help us find a cure!
