Provide the funds to move the S.S. United States to Brooklyn, where she can be preserved instead of sold for scrap.

Created by E.C. on October 14, 2015

- The SS United States is the largest passenger ship ever built in the United States, and also the fastest passenger ship to cross the Atlantic, a record held since 1952.

- She was built with government funds from the Truman administration to be easily convertible to a troop carrier.

- She is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and four presidents have crossed the Atlantic on board.

As of the end of October, 2015, the preservation society that currently owns the SS United States will be unable to continue funding her berth in Philadelphia, and will have to consider scrapping her.

A significantly less expensive berth is on offer in Brooklyn, NY, but the preservation society does not have the funds to move her.

Save the greatest passenger ship the USA has ever built!
