Data-transmission needs have been increasing dramatically for the last decade while existing infrastructure stagnates. When information is readily available, and transmitted quickly, educational, commercial, and industrial establishments flourish. Current internet speeds are 1% of what is currently feasible and America is falling behind other developed countries.
The internet has become ubiquitous with delivering news, and emergency updates. Currently, we deliver this information to television sets and radio receivers through services subsidized by tax payers. Access to the internet should be within the same right. An overhaul of existing internet infrastructure is required to stay on the cutting edge of innovation and to provide internet access to all Americans.
