It seems incredulous that we are required to have a license to Fish or Hunt and kill animals. Yet no special training is necessary to legally "Kill Humans".
Most Jurors make their decisions to give the Death penalty based on Attorney persuasion or their own personal bias.
The Lawyers in these cases must be Death Penalty certified, yet those who make the ultimate decision aren't required to know anything about the law.
The "Jury of our peers" rule also places a heavy burden upon those forced to serve on these juries. Many understand that they are under- qualified to make such a difficult decision. This can cause serious emotional distress for them which they carry for the rest of their lives.
A formally trained volunteer jury pool would relieve this issue.
