US Combat veterans are not properly taken care of upon release from service. Many end up on the streets. Several private non-profits attempt to address this issue but fail to provide significant long lasting help. The burden should be on the tax payers who vote for the congressmen who send these men and women to war. All volunteer combat veterans deserve a lifetime pension at 100% of their final service pay grade in addition to lifetime healthcare benefits from the VA.
