While a lot of funding is put towards cancer research, there isn't enough funding for pediatric cancer research. Pediatric cancer is often over-looked, many people simply categorize pediatric cancers with adult cancers. Pediatric cancers are different from cancers more common in adults, and need different treatment.
In 2007, $843 million in federal research funding went to breast cancer, while only $180 million went to pediatric cancer research. While funding for pediatric cancer has certainly improved in the last 6 years, it is still insufficient.
I petition Congress to require the National Cancer Institute to put more money into pediatric cancer research. Please petition with me.
