Provide more funds for urban charter schools to help the families of students who attend their schools

Created by K.T. on September 06, 2012

Children who live in urban areas benefit most from a high-performing charter school, yet many need financial help for the required basics.

Disclaimer: I am the parent of a teacher at a high-performing urban charter school. School just began, and teachers are already buying (out of pocket) personal necessities for students ... backpacks, shoes, shirts to wear with the provided uniforms, supplies.

Charter schools don't receive the same funding as public schools, and money for personal needs of impoverished student is critical.

Many charter schools are turning out college-bound scholars who are making a difference in the cycle of education and poverty. Many kids are doing it virtually alone. Scholarship funds for personal needs are desperately needed.
