provide the option for federal workers to buy long-term disability through their employer.

Created by S.K. on February 13, 2014

Federal workers are currently not offered the option to purchase a long-term disability group plan through their employer. The sick-leave accrual rate for federal workers is inadequate when workers are expected to use their sick leave to cover their pay during any short or long-term time off work needed to recover from illness/surgery etc. Current statistics state that the odds of a worker in the US needing to utilize their LTD to replace some of their income due to illness or injury are 1 in 3 during their career. Most benefits packages nationwide offer the option to purchase LTD to replace 50-70% of a workers income during time off work that is due to illness or injury. Please help federal workers attain this basic benefit.
