Provide oversight of animals used in all domestic media productions and ensure their safety.

While we acknowledge that the AHA has in the past brought greater safety to animals used on set, based on this week's feature article in the Hollywood Reporter, "Animals Were Harmed" (link: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/node/659719) the American Human Association (AHA) has critically failed to protect the safety and lives of animals. Examples include the near-death of the tiger used in the Life of Pi and 27 dead animals during the production of The Hobbit. What's worse, the AHA rubber-stamps movies or finds creative ways to circumvent its own policies set up to prevent these terrible acts from occurring and informing the public. The Obama Administration should establish an oversight body to take the AHA's place and launch an investigation into these reported abuses.
