We the undersigned believe that it is the responsibility of any government to provide for the well-being of its people. We further believe that the well-being of people in the United States and abroad would be significantly improved by the capability to hug people who are far away. We posit that the only hope for long-distance hug machines within our lifetime lies in government funded Research and Development. As such, it is the responsibility of the Obama Administration to pressure Congress to develop and implement a hug machine, ideally with the intention of mass-producing LDHMs within this decade.
