At this moment disabled veterans who are removed from service due to injury are not allowed the same benefits as retired veterans such as dental coverage, vision benefits, or military installation privileges, i.e. discounted PX merchandise, etc. In addition to what was previously mentioned above they are stripped of their military identification card once it expires and it is not re-issued.
My Husband is a disabled veteran who suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder; he loved serving this country for 18 years and was injured overseas. The last thing he should feel is like he's non-existent; like he's not a part of US Army anymore. Getting injured was hard, suffering
from PTSD is harder, taking his identification from him so he loses what little connection he had- is unbearable
