Provide a service, with the FCC, where all cellular phone towers will send out weather and emergency information freely.

Created by K.K. on May 23, 2013

Realizing that not all cellphones have data plans, some information that would benefit everyone is missed because access to the information is limited by internet connectivity.

In the same way that cellular phones often receive the time of day from cell towers, they should also receive safety and emergency information over the air, at all times.

Starting with local weather, a simple text line stating the current temperature and weather conditions would have greatly helped to spread the word about the impending tornado in Oklahoma.

This service could also be used to warn of all other natural disasters or threats to specific regions.

Access to this information shouldn't be restricted to connected phones, it is potentially life saving and a reasonable service to provide everyone, freely.
