Many first world countries do not have their regular police officers carry firearms or drive fuel guzzling muscle cars.
They instead have their police officers call for specially trained armed support officers when necessary.
NZ has only recently given their police officers tasers and only because those tasers have been outfitted with cameras so that their use can have oversight.
And why do we need our police force to have overpowered vehicles? Do that many cars that are pulled over try to evade the pursuit? Does not every car have a radio that can call ahead to another officer for an intercept?
at least 90% of what a cop car is needed for can be done with a dodge neon.
Lastly, understand that this is not a federal issue, however it needs attention in every damn community in the US.
